Dried cheese snacks are all the rage these days. I feel like I see more dried out cheese snacks showing up on store shelves all the time. That's good news for us low carbers. Easier to find low carb snacks are always a win. I only wish that there was more variety in what was out there for us. Well, folks I am pleased to share of a great new little company that is doing something a little different with their approach to these snacks.
Cat Island Cookie & Cracker Co. has launched some new cheese base snacks that I was lucky enough to try and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. First off, I might classify these differently then just dried out cheese. Its almost closer to a cheese based cookie/cracker. The carbs are still really low but may be a bit higher then something like a Moon cheese. However the flavor and texture in these are complete unique and different. Crispy and light they make for a wonderful snack or lunch side.
The Zesty Cheddar Bites were super yummy and had a great savory taste to them. Light and buttery like a biscuit with a slight hint of spice. I could easily eat a box of these without thinking twice. But the real winner here is Spicy Asiago Wafers. These like their counterpart had a similar consistency and buttery taste, but the Asiago has such a more prominent flavor. And the spice in these is a bit stronger too. By no means were they too spicy or hot but just right for some great flavor. These were my favorite by far. Great taste and never too salty like some others.
I would absolutely go back to these as a snacks. They seem like a great item to pair with some wine for a snack or even use at a party. They are affordable, delicious, and they are not to hard to find. I even saw that you can even order on Amazon.
If you read this blog you know that I am constantly on the look-out for Low Carb products that meet my lifestyle and help to make my life a bit easier. Saving time on cooking, and having a variety of snacks available help to make the diet a bit easier on myself so I don’t get bored with the same old things. So when I discovered that there was a new subscription service that sends you products that fit within the low carb lifestyle I was on board.
Keto Krate is a new subscription box that is available in the long list of to your door monthly box subscriptions that is specifically geared towards the Keto and low carb lifestyle. They guarantee that all items in the box will be less than 5 carbs per serving and that the value of the collected items products will always exceed the cost of the box.
My desire to find some new snacks that were low carb is really what made me decide to give it a try, that plus who doesn’t like a surprise now and then.
My review's for the individual products in this box will be cut short here. I will be doing more in-depth reviews on each product and share links to those reviews here as I complete them. Right now I just want to talk about this month's box and what I got as a whole.
So every box has a nice little welcome card that explains all the items you received and then usually has some promo codes in case you need more of something. I have already found myself using this for a snack I receive in my last box that no one carried in the stores near me. I had to have some more so having a little discount was great to give me the incentive to get some shipped to me.
Lots of great items this month and a couple that I was pretty excited to try out. So what was in my box this month?
One of the first items that I pulled out of the box was some walnuts by the Crazy Go nuts company. I love eating nuts. They are my go-to snack so having something a bit different is fun. I look forward to trying these since walnuts are not a usual choice for me. A bag of pork rinds were the next out. I like pork rinds a lot more than I ever thought I would. I am a little nervous of the dill flavor, but still look forward to trying this. Up next was a bag of Hot Chocolate. This was great to have and came at a great time as we just had some big snowfall. So a cozy drink in the box is a great addition. I'm super excited about it.
A know Better cookie was also included. I love their cookies. Two different chocolate bars to look at and try which is super fun. They sent a protein bar by Raw Rev which I have had a few times and think is ok. Not my favorite of the bars, just ok. And last is a coconut butter spread. I'm never sure how to use these so I will probably need to check out their website.
A decent box this month with a fair variety of snacks. Seems like it should last a while and help to get through the thanks giving season.
Crazy Go Nuts Buffalo Walnuts
Southern Recipe Spicy Dill Pork Rinds
Sweet Cheat Hot Chocolate
Brooklyn Biltong Steakhouse flavor
Know Better Double Chocolate Cookie
Coco Polo Quinoa Mick Chocolate Bar
Choco Perfection Dark Chocolate Bar
Raw Rev Glo Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt
Nikki's Vanilla Cake Batter Coconut Butter Spread
These are beef sticks that are basic cut up into smaller sticks. That makes them cuter I think. How did they taste? I cant really remember. Not bad. Not super memorable. but decent.
This chocolate is pretty good and is wonderfully rich. One small piece is all i need to satisfy for a while. It almost has a slight berry aftertaste to it. However the sweetener in it will com back to haunt you. So don't eat to much. Gave me pretty bad gas.
Curly Girlz is one of my all time favorite sugar free candy companies. The chocolate and sweets they make are always on point. These Hemp Brittle pieces were no different. A lot like a toffee or a Health bar with a hint of a graham taste. These were super good and the best thing was that they didn't have any cramming or effects from the sweeteners they use.
The Salted Carmel + Pecan Bar by BHU Fit has pretty good flavor. It's a different kind of protein bar and it has a bit of an oily finish, but the flavor is good and it really does help to fill you up. I had hoped that it was a little bit saltier than it was. but overall still good.
These Nacho Cheese Pro Puff by Meals for Muscle are wonderful. They had great flavor and where almost like a Cheetos substitute. Not many products out there like that I have found. Good nacho cheese taste and not much aftertaste at all. I enjoyed them. Very good.
