Magic Spoon Low Carb Keto Cereal Review

In the last few months it seems as though a few new companies have come out of the woodwork that started selling low carb dry cereal alternatives. Claiming to be higher in protein and having an extra dose of fiber it's amazing that it's taken so long to have some good alternatives show up for us. For me, cereal is a great breakfast option but it also works well for a snack in the evenings. It can fulfill a craving for something sweet but also fill you up.

But let's be real, if they don’t taste good what's the point. That’s where I am at. So I had to know how does this stuff stack up? It's obviously not going to be a sugary as a typical sugar cereal. But could it offer some good flavor?

One particular company has been showing up in my feed a bit more the last several weeks. The Magic Spoon says that they differ from other cereals on the market for using a allulose which is a rare sugar that tastes great but has a zero glycemic impact and 0 calories. They also boost up the protein and fiber thereby lowering the carbs. Coming in at about 3 net carbs per serving. They offer four flavors today. So let's take a look at how they taste.

Before I get into the flavors, which really is the only thing that separates them here, I should talk about the consistency since that’s is uniform across the board. I found the Magic Spoon Cereal to have a slight airy consistency, which what I mean by that is that’s its very light and waffery. Don't interpret that as taste, just how it feels in your mouth.  I actually found that the best way to eat my cereal was to add milk, in my case Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk, and then let it sit in it for about 2 minutes before enjoying. Just to slightly soften them up. And it doesn’t soften much. But for me it helped give it a more normal crunch.

Fruity

Full discretion here, I never have preferred a fruity cereal. Fruity Pebbles, Trix, and Fruit Loops have never been my thing. But my kids love them. So with that in mind these weren't really for me. They did taste fruity and they have a nice little sweetness to them but not my cup of tea. If you like fruity cereal it will probably be great for you. My daughter loved them and actually regularly asked for a bowl. So I guess that must mean something.

Frosted

This was actually the first bowl that I tried. And these were decent. But in my mind they were very plain and nothing the get excited over. Not much standing out about them that stuck with me. A fine lightly sweetened cereal. But overall a pretty basic experience. I would eat them again, but these were not stand out by any means.

Cinnamon

These however are my jam! I love cinnamon and these nailed it. They had a great cinnamon roll taste and the smell was great. I love it. Probably my favorite of the group. The taste is spot on what you want for a cinnamon cereal. Well done and I would totally recommend. Super yummy and work great as a snack too.

Cocoa

This was probably my second favorite and to be honest, of the low carb cocoa cereals, this one most closely reflects the cereals of my childhood. Nice cocoa taste but not overwhelmingly chocolate. It’s a light flavor that enhances but doesn’t make you feel like you need to run off your breakfast afterwards. Very yummy and easily one of the better cocoa low carb options out there.

Overall, The Magic Spoon nails the flavor and is definitely a great option for adults looking for something a little healthier. The price point isn't too bad and is about the same as the other brands out there. I would say that the carbs are a bit lower but not by much. Overall I would easily recommend them to anyone looking for a cereal alternative. And what's great is that they offer a nice variety pack so you can try a little of each.
