Lowcarb Dreamfields Pasta: To Good To Be True?

Dreamfields Pasta. Anybody else heard or tried this stuff? We got some the other day. Supposed to be only 5 carbs a serving when all is said and done. They have some patented method of making many of the carbs "un--digestible" so it basically works out of your body just like fiber. I don't understand it completely and it sounds a little to good to be true, This is what they say on their website:

Q.   Why do you say that Dreamfields Pasta only has 5 grams of digestible carbs when the nutrition label states that it has 41 grams of carbohydrates?
A.   While the total number of carbohydrates is the same as traditional pasta, our patent-pending formula and unique manufacturing process protects all but 5 grams of carbohydrates from being digested. The Dreamfields fiber and protein blend creates a protective barrier to reduce starch digestion in the small intestine. The unabsorbed, or
protected carbohydrates then pass to the colon where they are fermented, providing the same health benefits as fiber.

We decided to try it at my house. No real way to know if it works other than to trust. I guess its probably a good idea to not have this stuff all the time, but as a treat, or as a filler for an Asian dish it could work great.

Anybody ever tried it?

Yes, we have tried it several times, and love that we can have spaghetti as a family as my husband and son are not low carb, just my daughter and I. It tastes like "normal" pasta and only 5 grams of carbs, what's not to love? (except that it is double the price of regular pasta) :)

I agree, the price is a little high, but its nice to be able to have a little bowl of noodles once in a blue moon. Sometimes we use them in an asian dish too.

I have never heard of these before, but only 5g net carbs? Definitely adding this to my list of things to try.

This was proven to not be low carb. It raises your blood sugar just like regular pasta. http://www.dietdoctor.com/the-dreamfields-pasta-fraud

I SO love this pasta!!! I'm not diabetic nor do I check my sugar level after eating but it work wonders for my dieting. I never feel bloated or gain lbs as I do after eating reg pasta. Homemade Mac and Cheese 2+x a day, days in a row and no increase in the scale and NOT missing a beat on taste is always a nice sight for me. This pasta is the only pasta allowed in our house PERIOD!
