Atkins Swedish Meatballs Review

Mushrooms blah!

Why so many mushrooms?

So the new Atkins Swedish Meatball meal is pretty tasty. The meatballs are hearty and tasty and the have a pretty good tasting gravy with the meal. The problem I have with this meal is my own. I am not a mushroom guy. I think they stink and have a gross consistency. The taste is kinda funky too. And while I understand that some people love them, they just aren't for me. I can tolerate them in some dishes if it's not too strong and overpowering. In this particular meal however it is covered with mushrooms. I personally have to ration my bites with mushroom so I can make it through the meal.

Regardless of my own childlike eating habits the meal is pretty tasty. Again the gravy is decent and the meatballs seem hearty enough. This would probably be good to eat with a little homemade cauliflower rice too.

What do you think? Do you like this one?

I tried this one. I feel the same. Mushrooms overwhelmed the rest of the dish. Meatballs could have been much bigger (like the picture on the outside of the box) as well as could have been softer. Was no very filling but the gravy did have a good taste to it. 50/50 on if I'll be purchasing this one again.

I happen to love mushrooms when they are cooked the right way. The ones in Swedish Meatballs are YUCK. They are tasteless and rubbery in texture. The meat and the sauce is awesome. Next time I will remove all the mushrooms and add my own. I also just loved the broccoli and meat dish. I cook more broccoli of my own and just add them to the dish. Love almost all of Atkins meals.

I use Costco's big bag of beef meatballs. They are nicely seasoned, no sauce, juicy. I usually microwave 5-6 for a minute (just until they are hot & steaming) - or toss them in a skillet (frozen) and lightly skizzle until they are soft. Really good flavor. I keep a baggie of them in our office freezer for an easy lunch. Also, much better price than little individual servings.

I passed on the mushrooms too. Saying this, what do you think the carb count is with just the meatballs and some of the gravy?

I liked this entree "okay."

I do like mushrooms, but I didn't like these. I feel sure they are included to up the protein count for the entree. They are nothing but water and protein.

This entree inspired us to make our own meatballs. Easy, tasted better, fewer carbs, and no soy.

This is a disappointment. The mushrooms are flavorless and a weird texture like chewing plastic. The meatballs have more flavor but a weird texture like eating Silly Putty meatballs

Since the frozen diners are so high in sodium and I have high blood pressure, I decided to make my own, and follow Atkins Quick Start meal plan. I used a pack of Swedish Meatballs (fully cooked), slightly saltae my mushrooms, and onions with the meatballs. When they were completed heated through, I added a little butter and sour cream. Delicious! Simple, and quick. Much faster than waiting for the frozen dinner to be ready. Onions and mushrooms perfect! The sour cream sauce turned slightly brown from the browning of the meatballs. Everything came out perfect. no need to add extra seasoning. So much fresher tasting and good too!!!!

Swedish meatballs were horrible, tasted like the sauce was Worcestershire and ginger and everything bad, I like mushrooms but didn't even realize there were any, I couldn't get past the sauce, they need to scrap that dish!
