Atkins Review: Italian-Style Pasta Bake

Not sure how this fits into the Atkin's method being a pasta and all, but they seem to make it work. I don't think they include a lot of the noodles. Seems like it had a lot of sausage, mushroom, and cheese in it. That probably helps quite a bit to have more of those things and less pasta in it.

I thought it was pretty tasty myself. Probably because anything pasta is so far removed from my diet these days that it was a real nice change for my taste buds. I also enjoyed all the cheese they included. It was really gooey and I appreciate that. Big chunks of meat in it too. It is nice to add some pasta into the diet. And this meal did a good job of filling me up more so than some of the other Atkins frozen meals did.

If you are craving some Italian food on your diet, this is a good option. And, its quick and easy.

Hi, I just found your blog today and boy am I glad I did. I have been off and on the atkins/low carb diet for several years. I'm currently "on", but I've just been getting so tired of standing in the kitchen for hours. I believe this blog just saved me. It feels SO good to know REAL people with actual jobs also have a hard time cooking every meal! *huge sigh of relief* Well, it was good to get that out...

Btw, I am sorry for the loss of your dad. You have a beautiful little girl!

Okay so... Re: Noodles. Actually Atkins does make a penne pasta noodle! I haven't been able to find this is stores, BUT I have ordered it off of Netrition.com. Here is the direct link: http://www6.netrition.com/atkins_pasta.html

These are really good. They don't taste "healthy" at all and are very yummy. Just gotta watch your portions! I would make a very simple low-carb alfredo to go with it! (Simple alfredo: some butter, garlic powder, cream cheese, some pepper, little parmesan, and some heavy cream) I would cook a steak in the skillet-- to sear it. After letting the steak rest, I would cut it up. Throw the sauce, steak, noodles, and maybe a handful of spinach and it was SOOO tasty!!

I tried this today.. Literally 3 pieces of pasta in the entire dish!!! If you like the sound of dog food poured over 3 pasta noodles with tomato sauce and cheese, this is the perfect meal for you!

A soupy mess, looking nothing whatsoever like the picture. The container was only half full. Sheesh.

I am not kidding when I say there were 5 pieces of pasta in mine! I literally counted them because I was so confused. I can't believe they would even market this!

Not to be rude, however what did you expect? Just because it says Atkins on the package doesn't mean that their pasta is special and it is okay to eat it. Pasta is pasta. You want to eat a meal with 7 grams of net carbs, this is what 7 net carbs worth of pasta is. I was surprised at first that I only had 4 pieces of pasta in mine and simply laughed about it. I thought the meat sauce and cheese were very tasty did not really get full from the meal.

This stuff was awful. I got 5 tiny pieces of pasta, and the sauce was more like some kind of chili than a pasta sauce. I could barely get through it.

Love this one.

There was only a little bit of pasta, and I was glad, because I wanted it to be low carb. I might add some zucchini noodles to this sometime.

Very tasty, nicely filling, lots of protein.

Two thumbs up.

This was so, so GROSS. There were 3, yes THREE noodles and a ton of oil/grease and little pizza-esque ssh chunks.
