The Quest Cinnamon Roll Cereal Bar is a great substitute for those of us on the low carb diet that miss the taste of dry cereal. Other bars are usually chewy and fit more in the granola or protein side of the bar spectrum. This feels like an actual cereal bar and tastes like one too. Tapping into the dry cereal feel makes it a perfect fit for breakfast when you are on the go. Also it does a pretty good job of capturing the Cinnamon roll flavor in this bar. Pretty tasty. I would have more of these for sure. I just haven't found this in any stores yet. Hopefully we will start to see them in GNC and other places so we don’t have to pay the shipping.

![]() Ok, so believe it or not, there is a company out there at makes low carb Chocolate Chip cookies that don’t taste like cardboard. It's true I tried them and they are actually pretty good. The Chocolate Chip Keto Kookie come in a stay fresh package, which must work pretty well because when I opened it the two cookies came out of it soft and fresh just like they were baked recently. I love soft baked cookies so the instantly gained some points with me. The chocolate seems legit and the cookies produced a nice smell of sweetness. Overall they taste great like a chocolate chip cookie should. Great texture and freshness. I was very pleased. Where these particular cookies turned me off was in their sweetener. These use erythritol for the sweetener, which may be a healthier option, but I have never really liked that much. Mainly because of the fact that it produces a cool sensation when you eat it. Similar to that of a peppermint gum. It doesn’t really belong in a baked good. Now that may not be something that everyone is going to be turned off about but it's not really my thing. If it wasn’t for that these cookies would be perfect. Everything else about them is dead on and tasty, but the cool taste they produce is so prominent that it overshadows the flavors of the cookie. I enjoyed trying it, but probably wouldn’t seek them out unless they used a different sweetener. Which is kind of a bummer.
Reviewing a sparkling water seems kind of pointless, but I suppose some of you might like to see my thoughts. This La Croix Melon Pomelo is crisp and fresh and doesn’t use any artificial flavors in it which I truly believe you can taste. I love the flavor of the melon in the water. So fresh and light. I actually wish it was just that and didn’t have the grapefruit which was a little sour, but even so it's pretty tasty and a very fresh summer drink without any guilt.
Smokey Barbecue Activated Sprouted Seeds are a combination of mostly sunflower seeds and pumpkins seeds with a heavy seasoning to give it some kick. I like that they don’t skimp on the flavor, because these seeds on their own are not my favorite taste. -Pretty Good Size bag -Good bbq flavor, no shortage of taste and seasoning. Slight smokey taste. -Low carb snack These are pretty good. But they don’t get me excited enough to seek them out again. If you read this blog you know that I am constantly on the look-out for Low Carb products that meet my lifestyle and help to make my life a bit easier. Saving time on cooking, and having a variety of snacks available help to make the diet a bit easier on myself so I don’t get bored with the same old things. So when I discovered that there was a new subscription service that sends you products that fit within the low carb lifestyle I was on board. Keto Krate is a new subscription box that is available in the long list of to your door monthly box subscriptions that is specifically geared towards the Keto and low carb lifestyle. They guarantee that all items in the box will be less than 5 carbs per serving and that the value of the collected items products will always exceed the cost of the box. My desire to find some new snacks that were low carb is really what made me decide to give it a try, that plus who doesn’t like a surprise now and then. My review's for the individual products in this box will be cut short here. I will be doing more in-depth reviews on each product and share links to those reviews here as I complete them. Right now I just want to talk about this month's box and what I got as a whole. So every box has a nice little welcome card that explains all the items you received and then usually has some promo codes in case you need more of something. I have already found myself using this for a snack I receive in my last box that no one carried in the stores near me. I had to have some more so having a little discount was great to give me the incentive to get some shipped to me. Lots of great items this month and a couple that I was pretty excited to try out. So what was in my box this month? The box for June is a nice well rounded box. A good variety of items. I like when they provide something that sustains beyond a single taste so a bag of Blondie brownie mix seems like a fun thing to try. I enjoyed the flax crackers from last time and look forward to trying the new flavor. La Croix isn't new to me but I love some sparking water in the summer. A new cereal bar to try is great especially if it is a great cereal substitute. I eat bars for breakfast all the time and love anything cinnamon. I look forward to trying this one out. Another meat stick in this box, which has become the norm. And a Chocolate Chip Cookie that is low in sugar. Interested in trying this cookie as I never get cookies anymore. I hope its good. This box has a little bit of everything and is a nice variety of things to try. I look forward to trying each of them out. Its not my favorite of the boxes, but nothing in here I won't like so that’s always a plus. The Item I am most excited to try is the Blondie mix and the Kookie. I love some baked goods! Food Alive Onion Garlic Flax Crackers
Good Dee's Sugar Free Blondies Mix La Croix Melon Pomelo Chocolate Chip Keto Kookie Quest Cinnamon Roll Cereal Bar Everly Strawberry Lemonade The New Primal Uncured Bacon Pork Stick The Chocolate SmartCake has to be my second favorite of the delicious line of SmartCake low carb snack cakes. Very moist and feels like it was just out of the oven. Great coco taste and still very light and airy. Taste closer to that’s of a chocolate muffin than a cupcake. Has a great sweet taste and wonderful to help those cravings of something sweet. These guys are crushing it. I hope they come out with more options and I would love to see these appear in some stores near me. Again, I can't recommend these enough if you are a person who love cake or muffins but want to keep your carbs low. Zero carbs is really a no brainer.
After trying the Cinnamon Smartcake not to long ago I had to try the other flavors this company made. It was really good. The next one on the list was the Coconut Smartcake. This cake is really yummy. It has a slight coconut taste and even has small pieces of coconut in it. What stood out to me is how moist this cake is. It feels very fresh. Super tasty and yummy. They put a little extra sweetener on top of these just like a muffin. Very light and airy. I shared one with a friend to try. He was also impressed. I think it's interesting that most of the ingredients listed are natural. That seems pretty rare to me. Usually it's some weird amalgam of natural flours and lab stuff. This didn’t seem to be that way. I will definitely be getting more of these in the future.
I get sent Beef Jerky to try all the time. Some can be winners and some not so much. Personally I love a good piece of jerky that is dry but still soft. Nothing that is difficult to chew. The latest jerky for me has hit it right on the mark.
People's Choice Carne Seca Limon Con Chile Jerky is not only a fresh and not too dried out jerky, it is also incredibly flavorful. It has the slightest bit of kick to it but it's not overpowering at all. Good flavor that will not be trumped by heat. I am a little ashamed to say that I actually ate the entire bag of this in one sitting. Jerky should be savored, but this stuff was really good. Few jerky's make me want to pay the shipping to get more, but this one actually stood out as one worth having again. |
