My work had and easter egg hunt this morning. I scored lots of candy which I will not be able to eat(my wife will be happy) and not a single gift card which some eggs had. Easter Egg Fail!
To BBQ or not to BBQ that is the question.
I love BBQ. Meat smothered and slow cooked in a delicious sugary sauce. What's not to love. Well, the problem lies in the sugary sauce. BBQ is actually a bit of a gray area for me in carb counts. It's meat which we will all agree is low carb by itself, but some of it depending on the BBQ can be very sweet and have a lot of carbs cooked into it.
The other hard part about BBQ comes from the sides that usually come along with it. Most of the time its potatoes, mac and cheese, or corn bread. All delicious, and all a bad idea.
I had lunch at a BBQ place near me called Lucille's. Its a pretty awesome spot in my area. You can tell they take their time with the meats their because the whole parking lot smells wonderfully smokey.
I got a small order of ribs, some tri tip, and some fresh veggies. Not a bad lunch. You just have to be careful what you have later in the day to make up for it..
Somehow, after a good three years of doing the Atkins diet I have never managed to try an Atkins shake until today. My mother and father who stayed with me for a visit recently bought some Atkins drinks and left them behind my apartment and as the saying goes, finders keepers losers weepers.
The flavor I tried today is called Wild Berry Shake. This is part of the Atkins Daybreak series of shakes and bars which are intended more for breakfast. I had my shake for breakfast and it was pretty good. It was kind of like drinking a strawberry milkshake only not as sweet and with a only a slight powdery taste to it. I guess that's why I've never really had these diet shakes before because in my experience most of the time they have so many vitamins that they end up having just a powdery flavor. Regardless of my conceptions this shake was tasty. I will definitely have this again and fully plan on trying other flavors down the road. It's a great way to start your morning with a little sweet flavor and plus it's got a lot of different vitamins that you need to get your day moving. Theres some vitamin C, B, D and even that crazy riboflavin everybody's talking about. If you want an early morning milkshakes from Atkins that's a little bit lighter and doesn't feel as heavy as a desert then you should give the Wild Berry shake from Atkins a try.
